I am posting the following letter on Mike Lynch’s behalf. - M.B.

Dear Mifflinburg Sports Fans,

As most of you probably know the Mifflinburg Area School District constructed a new gymnasium in conjunction with the new intermediate school. Last year the wrestling and basketball programs committed to raising funds to purchase a digital message board to supplement the main scoreboard. It will be capable of displaying pictures and other biographical information about the event, student athletes or advertisers. It will be large enough to see and read anywhere in the gym and will be unlike any other in the entire region.

Last year I told you that when an opportunity presents itself it usually involves a decision. The decision normally comes down to either taking advantage of the opportunity or letting it pass by. The phrase “window of opportunity” is familiar to all of us and we realize that like a window the opportunity will open and then will close. Well, we are a little more than halfway through the window. Since July of last year we raised $7,447 so that leaves us with a balance of $6,156 to close this project out. I am confident that we can come very close to that number if we can convince you to support this great project.

It is our goal to provide the student athletes with the most meaningful experience that we can. We know that if we can generate excitement and provide a charged atmosphere for our fans then our athletes will benefit and memories will be created that will last a lifetime. This is a joint effort, involving Mifflinburg High School’s boys and girls basketball and wrestling programs. We are supporting this because it will provide for a more entertaining and informative experience for the fans, the students and the athletes alike.

This will be our second golf tournament in as many summers. Ask anyone who participated last year and I am confident that they will tell you that they had a great time. The weather cooperated and it provided a great chance for everyone to spend some time with friends and supporters of Mifflinburg sports. The tournament will be a four-man scramble at Shade Mountain Golf Course in Middleburg, on July 27, 2006. Please see the enclosed brochure for more information.

You can help us accomplish our goal by participating, sponsoring a hole or both. Don’t miss being a part of this important and enjoyable event. On behalf of coaches Dave Murray, Eldon Hoy and Jennifer Kurelja I would like to thank you for your contribution.
